Giants Update on Players’ Recovery Progress

PHOENIX — The Giants kicked off their offseason program on April 7, and wide receiver Malik Nabors is planning to participate despite recovering from ACL surgery. He has kept the team informed about his progress.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him next week. We’ll check in with our doctors,” general manager Joe Schoen mentioned during the NFL’s annual meeting.

Nabors is currently training in Miami. Recently, assistant general manager Brandon Brown had a chance to catch up with him over dinner while attending a pro day at the University of Miami.

It looks like Nabors could be ready to jump back into full football activities long before the regular season begins. “He’s feeling good,” said Shane. “Barring any setbacks, I’m optimistic he’ll be ready for Week 1. But, you know, these things can be unpredictable, so it’s best to stay cautious.” Still, he seems to be in a solid place both physically and mentally.

Meanwhile, on Friday, the Giants also checked in on running back Cam Skatebo, who is working his way back from an injury that cut his last season short. Skatebo attended Arizona State University’s pro day where he impressed, and Shane noted he’s been seen jogging and jumping with former teammates.

“He’s declared himself ready,” Schoen said. While Skatebo won’t be playing until September, he appears to be in good spirits and good health.

Recently, Skatebo stirred up some controversy with comments made during an appearance on the Bring the Juice podcast, where he questioned the legitimacy of certain health issues. He later apologized, calling it a “mistake in judgment and a poorly timed joke.”

The Giants have discussed these incidents with Skatebo to ensure the players are aware of their words’ impact. “The more you talk, the more likely you are to say something that could upset others,” Schoen explained. “It’s a balancing act when it comes to their personal branding and being representatives of the team.” Best to tread carefully.

In another note, John Harbaugh had his own slice of the New York experience recently. He and his wife, Ingrid, enjoyed dinner at Keene’s Steakhouse before attending a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden. He received a warm reception when shown on the jumbotron.

“It was fantastic. The fans were incredible. I couldn’t believe the energy—Giants fans were absolutely wild, high-fiving me, and I even met Spike Lee,” Harbaugh shared.
