Knicks get hopeful update on Miles McBride following recent injury worry

Encouraging News for the Knicks and Miles McBride

The Knicks have some hopeful updates concerning Miles McBride.

He is listed as questionable for the upcoming game against the Rockets in Houston. It seems his illness is related to a recovery phase following core muscle and pelvic surgery—something that had previously sidelined him for two months.

McBride recently returned during the Knicks’ loss to the Thunder in Oklahoma City after being absent for 28 games due to surgery for a sports hernia.

However, his time on the court was limited to just 11 minutes before the injury—which had kept him out for so long—flared up again. He dove for a loose ball, but unfortunately, he collided with Lou Dort from the Thunder.

After an incident involving a grab in the groin area, McBride was ejected from the game. He displayed clear signs of discomfort while sitting on the bench and ultimately limped to the locker room.

On a positive note, the fact that he hasn’t been ruled out for Tuesday’s game offers a glimmer of optimism.

Before his surgery, McBride was having a standout season, averaging 12.5 points per game and shooting about 41.5 percent from three-point range. He was also recognized as one of the better offensive point defenders on the Knicks.

With seven games left in the regular season, there’s still time for McBride to make a return before the postseason begins.

Meanwhile, Landry Shamet will miss his fifth consecutive game due to a right knee contusion.

In another development, Tracy McGrady recently challenged Karl-Anthony Towns directly. During a segment on The Post’s “Shine Time,” the Hall of Famer commented that for the Knicks to maximize Towns’ potential, he needs to exhibit more drive, emphasizing that “it’s up to KAT to buy into these games.”

McGrady was in Oklahoma City for the Knicks’ game, serving as part of NBC’s reporting team. Before the game, he had a chance to talk with Towns on the court.

“We communicate with him like basketball players, letting him know our expectations,” McGrady remarked regarding their conversation. “And what we recognize is his capability on the court.”
