CBS Sports officials refrained from speculating about Tiger Woods’ participation in the upcoming Masters. They also remained vague regarding his response to his recent DUI arrest after a car accident near his home in Jupiter Island, Florida.

The Masters is set to begin on Thursday, April 9, and CBS is gearing up to cover the prestigious tournament for the 71st consecutive year, navigating the challenges posed by the Woods situation.

During a Monday press conference that included Jim Nantz, Trevor Immelman, Dottie Pepper, and Sellers Shy, CBS Sports President David Berson addressed how the network would approach Woods’ coverage during the tournament.

Berson emphasized, “This is obviously a big topic. First of all, it’s fortunate that no one was injured. That’s the most important takeaway from last week’s news. I want to emphasize that.”

Regarding Woods’ potential presence at Augusta, Berson stated, “We don’t have any information, and it’s not fair to anyone to discuss or speculate. This should be left up to him and his team. We respect that and appreciate it, but speculation isn’t helpful.”

There had been some anticipation that Woods might compete in this year’s Masters prior to the recent incident, marking his fourth car accident since 2009 and his second DUI arrest.

Woods reportedly attempted to cut in front of a truck while driving near his home, which led to his Land Rover overturning.

“The story around Tiger is significant, but our primary responsibility during the tournament is to focus on the event,” Berson remarked. “Tiger has a remarkable legacy at Augusta with his numerous victories and influence in sports. We will certainly cover any relevant news, but our main focus will be the tournament itself.”

Last week, Woods participated in the TGL finals at Jupiter Links Golf Club, marking his return to competitive golf and sparking speculation about a possible Masters qualification.
