Jenny McCarthy Opens Up About Ongoing Health Struggles
Jenny McCarthy has described her current health situation as akin to a “living hell,” citing a progressive disease that has led to issues like eye growth and tooth loss.
During an appearance on Maria Menounos’ podcast, “Heel Squad”, the 53-year-old McCarthy shared details about her health journey. “Last time I was here, I was literally on my way to a biological dentist because I had been through a living hell for six months in my mouth,” she recounted. “My root canal was infected. I didn’t even realize root canals weren’t permanent.”
After a cleaning, her dentist assured her the tooth was fine, yet just three weeks later, she experienced severe pain again. “I got infected again,” she revealed, explaining that the infection was never completely eradicated.
McCarthy detailed that she developed a jawbone infection resulting from “three…small pools of toxic substances hidden underneath” her wisdom teeth. “There was still an infection there, and the bone was grafted over it, so I was doing well despite the infection in the bone. But a few months later, I ended up getting a jawbone infection,” she added.
Despite numerous surgeries, she faced ongoing complications that led to insomnia, leg cramps, and swollen eyelids.
She described a troubling growth appearing on her eyelid, likening it to “a pus-filled eraser top from the nastiest whitehead growing on my head.” This led her doctor to conduct further tests, revealing that mycotoxin poisoning was the root of her troubles.
Currently, McCarthy is following a “strong mold control protocol” which might last up to a year. She explained that this was discovered after her doctor noted, surprisingly, that she was the healthiest patient they had encountered.
Reflecting on her ordeal, she mentioned that it all began with complications from ceramic dental implants. Last year, she had a tooth and an implant fall out, leading to a deep bone infection. “I was on antibiotics for a year and had to eat only soft foods,” she said, highlighting the severity of her issues.
As if the dental nightmares weren’t enough, she also experienced a tumor appearing on her eyeball. “I thought it was cured, then it came back, and my jaw was swollen, and I was in a lot of pain,” she noted. “At the same time, I had a tumor in my eyeball.”
McCarthy did credit her husband, Donnie Wahlberg, for being a source of support throughout this challenging period. They’ve been married for over a decade, and Wahlberg has mentioned how they both work on their relationship actively by engaging in therapy together.
Through all of this, McCarthy said she still has a “long way to go” in her recovery but remains hopeful. She humorously concluded, “People should actually feel a little sorry for me!”
