Byron Donald Raises Record Funds for Gubernatorial Campaign

Congressman Byron Donald, who has the backing of former President Donald Trump, reported raising $22.2 million in the first quarter of 2026 for his campaign to succeed Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

On Wednesday, Donald’s campaign announced these impressive numbers, indicating that the Friends of Byron Donald PAC, associated with his campaign, has amassed over $67 million since he announced his candidacy in February 2025. The campaign claims that in this latest quarter alone, more than 10,000 donors contributed.

“It may be April 1st, but we’re not kidding,” the campaign stated. “The Byron Donald Campaign and Friends of Byron Donald PAC has achieved the largest fundraising total to date for a Trump-backed candidate aiming for Florida’s governorship.”

Trump expressed his endorsement even before Donald officially launched his campaign, stating on Truth Social that Donald “will be a truly great and strong Governor of Florida” and offering his “full and complete support.”

The campaign also enjoys backing from notable figures, including the late Turning Point USA leader Charlie Kirk, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Donald Trump Jr., and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, among others. Various Florida sheriffs, senators, and state representatives also support him.

Recent polling indicates that Donald is leading Republicans ahead of the spring primary elections. One February poll revealed a 62% approval rating among likely Republican primary voters, significantly ahead of competitors like Lt. Gov. Jay Collins.

A survey from the University of North Florida’s Public Opinion Research Institute suggested that if Casey DeSantis, the First Lady of Florida, opts not to run, Donald would lead with 31% support. However, should she enter the race, his support could wane to 28%, with her attracting 24%. After learning of Trump’s strong endorsement, Donald’s approval ratings jumped to 47%, with 12% reflecting support for Casey DeSantis.

Ryan Smith, Donald’s campaign strategist, noted, “Byron Donald, a Trump supporter, is committed to defeating the Democratic Party this November and securing Florida’s Republican status. He focuses on making Florida safer and more affordable, reducing the cost of living, and combating illegal immigration.” He emphasized that Donald will work to prevent Democrats from imposing their policies.

In a recent tweet, Eric Daugherty highlighted the record-breaking fundraising achievement and noted that Donald’s total net worth reached an impressive $67 million.
