Pro-life activist David Daleiden wins after 11 years of 'political persecution' initiated by Kamala Harris

Former presidential candidate Kamala Harris has experienced another setback after a lengthy 10-year pursuit against pro-life advocates in California.

David Daleiden gained national attention back in 2015 when he released an undercover video revealing Planned Parenthood’s policies about the sale of fetal tissue from abortions.

“As promised, the final charges have been dropped and the case has been completely expunged.”

At that time, Harris, who served as California’s attorney general, initiated an investigation that resulted in a series of felony charges alleging Daleiden breached privacy laws.

On Thursday, Daleiden shared that his final charges had been dismissed and the entire case was “expunged.”

“As promised, after months of delays and a peculiar ‘April Fool’s’ attempt, the charges were finally dismissed and the case wiped clean.” He remarked that the actions by [Planned Parenthood] and [the National Abortion Federation] were intended to undermine national consensus.

Daleiden previously celebrated an agreement in which the state would drop the charges if he entered a “no contest” plea, which would eventually be changed to “not guilty” and then dismissed.

The office of Democratic Attorney General Rob Bonta did not respond to a request for comment.

“After enduring nine years of politically motivated prosecutions, bringing to an end the legal battles initiated by Kamala Harris marks a significant victory for my journalistic endeavors and the public’s right to understand the truth behind Planned Parenthood’s practices,” Daleiden wrote in January 2025. “Now, we must all strive to safeguard families and infants from the abortion industry.”

As a result of activist footage, two companies ultimately admitted to unlawfully selling fetal parts from Planned Parenthood abortion clinics. One such company agreed in 2017 to a $7.8 million settlement, as well as agreeing to cease operations in California.

A spokesperson for Planned Parenthood denied any wrongdoing in 2015 and accused Daleiden of targeting women through deceptive means.

“The filing of the criminal complaint by the California Attorney General sends a clear message: targeting women and healthcare providers will not go unpunished,” mentioned Mary Alice Carter.

Live Action’s Lila Rose expressed her enthusiasm about Daleiden’s progress on social media, noting, “After a decade of attempts to prosecute, financially ruin, and imprison David Daleiden for his courageous and groundbreaking pro-life journalism, California bureaucrats have ultimately failed. David has triumphed, but this is just the beginning.”
