Blake Lively Responds After Dismissal of Harassment Claims Against Justin Baldoni
Blake Lively has spoken out following a New York City judge’s decision to dismiss her sexual harassment claim against Justin Baldoni. Judge Louis J. Lehman dismissed claims of sexual harassment, defamation, and conspiracy but allowed two retaliation claims and one breach of contract claim to proceed as the former co-stars head to trial.
In a detailed Instagram Stories post, Lively expressed gratitude for the court’s ruling, which she believes will enable her to fully share her story in front of a jury next month. She emphasized that her goal is to advocate not just for herself but for others who might not have the same opportunity to speak out.
Lively stated, “I am thankful for the court’s decision… it allows me to present the heart of my case to a jury,” affirming her dedication to ensuring a safe working environment for herself and others.
She also mentioned that pursuing a lawsuit was not her initial desire but was compelled by the pervasive retaliation she faced. Allegations in her lawsuit include claims that Baldoni engaged in a campaign aimed at undermining her career.
In her statement, Lively stressed the importance of recognizing that the issues she faces reflect broader societal problems. She warned that the narrative around her case shouldn’t reduce it to mere “celebrity drama,” urging people to see the real impact of online violence in everyday life.
She highlighted that the “digital wars” affect not just celebrities but everyone, calling it essential for parents to pay attention to what their children encounter online. Lively conveyed, “Children are the most vulnerable,” adding that ongoing work is necessary to improve safety in these digital spaces.
As the legal battle continues, Lively promised to remain committed to exposing systems that harm and retaliate against victims, remarking on the importance of collective efforts in this fight.
The lawsuit began after the filming of “It Ends With Us,” where Lively claims she was subjected to harassment on set. While her sexual harassment claims were dismissed, the trial is still set to progress on May 18th, focusing on remaining claims.
In a response to the ruling, Baldoni’s legal team expressed satisfaction with the dismissal of all sexual harassment allegations, citing their seriousness and appreciating the court’s thorough consideration of the facts and evidence.
