LeBron reaffirms his dislike for Memphis, Milwaukee, and even Cleveland

LeBron James Doubles Down on Comments About Small Market Cities

LeBron James reiterated his thoughts on Saturday about his dislike for playing in smaller cities, specifically mentioning Memphis and Milwaukee, and even adding Cleveland into the mix.

The Los Angeles Lakers star remarked that he believes the league would benefit if the Memphis Grizzlies relocated to Nashville. It seems he isn’t alone in his feelings; Nashville already houses the NFL’s Titans and the NHL’s Predators, and whispers about a possible MLB team are growing.

He expressed a particular annoyance with the notion of playing on unremarkable Tuesdays in Milwaukee. Following a wave of criticism on social media, James addressed the backlash during a recent practice. “Did they not see that?” he responded, when queried about his remarks regarding Memphis. “I’m 41 years old. There are two cities I really don’t want to play in right now—Milwaukee and Memphis. What’s the issue?”

James went on to share some of his personal feelings, saying, “I don’t even enjoy going home sometimes, and that’s where I’m originally from. People really need to get a grip. My son (Bronny) is frustrated to be on the team too. So what’s the point of all this? People should direct their energy towards more significant matters.”

In reaction to James’ comments, Memphis Grizzlies’ head coach Tuomas Isalo offered a contrasting opinion, citing his own warm reception when he arrived in the city two years ago. “I would say I have a complete opposite perspective,” he stated.

Toronto Raptors’ head coach Darko Rajakovic, a former Grizzlies assistant, also chimed in, asserting that he doesn’t care what people think about the city. “I love the people of Memphis and the food here. Every time I come, I enjoy it,” he said.
