Nick Faldo Critiques Tiger Woods After DUI Incident

Nick Faldo, a former PGA Tour champion with multiple Masters and British Open titles, has voiced his concerns following Tiger Woods’ recent DUI arrest. The incident has sparked a series of serious charges against Woods in Florida, including a crash and his refusal to offer a urine sample to police.

Earlier in the week, authorities released body cam footage that showed a deputy retrieving two pills from Woods’ pocket during a sobriety test.

Faldo didn’t hold back in his remarks to the media, emphasizing the need for both care and accountability regarding Woods’ situation. “There’s an aspect of ‘Let’s take care of Tiger’… but there’s also responsibility to consider,” he stated.

“He’s done something serious. The PGA Tour’s response seemed rather weak—I mean, they’re always going to look out for him. Jack Nicklaus mentioned it reflects poorly on the sport, and while some may disagree, there still has to be accountability.”

Despite empathizing with Woods and understanding his ongoing physical pain related to back and Achilles injuries, Faldo outright stated these injuries were self-inflicted. “I really do feel for him; he’s in constant pain. I asked him about it even before his 2021 accident, but much of this is of his own doing,” he remarked. “In the end, we really should approach this with more seriousness rather than just welcoming him back to a relaxing retreat after a few months.”

In a statement, the PGA Tour expressed their unwavering support for Woods, highlighting his legendary status in golf and his well-being as a priority. They acknowledged his decision to seek treatment and underscored his importance to the sport.

Faldo suggested that the Tour must be concern about the negative spotlight on Woods, especially considering how much they’ve invested in him over the years.

Woods has been receiving treatment outside the United States following this troubling episode.

Faldo argued that Woods seems to be “shirking responsibility” for these ongoing issues, hinting at a need for greater reflection on his part.
