Residents along Malibu’s celebrity-heavy street, where stars like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Lady Gaga reside, have been advised to either boil their water or rely on bottled options for the next few days.
This warning was issued after the Los Angeles County Water Authority District 29 found that a tank, known as the lower bush tank, wasn’t securely fastened. This has raised alarms regarding the local water system’s safety.
While there’s no confirmed contamination, officials are urging people in nearby areas, including Bush Drive, Cuthbert Road, Phillips Avenue, and Seaview Drive, to avoid tap water until further tests are completed.
The intention behind this advice is to safeguard against potential stomach and intestinal illnesses.
One local expressed frustration about the situation on social media, saying, “What incompetence! Third world countries have better service.”
Bottled water will be available for distribution on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Malibu Water District located at 23533 West Civic Center Way.
Officials from both LACWD and the State Water Resources Control Board are monitoring the situation closely. They’ll lift the advisory once tests confirm the water is safe for consumption.
Despite this hiccup, Malibu remains a favorite spot for the affluent, though some, like Aaron Rodgers, have opted for quieter locations recently.
For now, locals are settling for bottled water while enjoying their usual luxurious lifestyle amidst stunning sunsets.
