He made remarks about Memphis, particularly regarding the quality of hotel accommodations, which he found lacking. His candid comments quickly ignited a nationwide debate.

“Staying at the Hyatt at 41 years old? You think I wanna do that? Being in Memphis on a random Thursday?” he asked with a laugh. “I’m not the only one in the NBA who has said it. We’ve all been like, ‘You guys should really consider moving. Nashville’s great. It’s got Vanderbilt, NASCAR; it has everything.”
