Woman in mansion contacts police over noise issues

A wanted poster has surfaced featuring a man labeled the “Venice Karen,” accused of harassing law enforcement due to noise coming from a nearby bar.

This poster is styled like something from the Wild West and depicts David Feige, who is currently the president of the Venice Neighborhood Association and has a background as a lawyer and Hollywood producer.

According to allegations, Feige built an expansive mansion right next to the pub and then phoned the police up to 30 times in a single day over noise complaints.

In a response to the California Post, Feige denied the charges, suggesting that this was a targeted effort by a small group aiming to “blackmail” him.

The wanted poster questions, “Who builds a multi-million dollar house (constructed in 1962) right behind Hina’s house and calls the police 30 times a day to complain about noise? Last seen calling 911 from his brand new mansion.”

Feige, known for his work on the TV series “Daredevil: Born Again” and the documentary “The Untouchables,” expressed anger over the situation.

He noted, “I clearly saw the poster, but at the end of the day, the purpose was to harass and intimidate me. The poster’s claims are a complete lie pushed by several bars who think it’s acceptable to disregard their neighbors in favor of their own interests.”

When pressed about who might have placed these posters, he replied, “This is about chasing money. It’s not the community talking; it’s probably some profit-driven bars.”

Feige emphasized that he has lived in the area long before establishments like Nar Vida existed, stating that concerns only arose once outdoor areas were introduced. He also made it clear that he doesn’t condone the posters and had no role in creating them.

“I have known all of the owners for many years and have communicated with them effectively to seek common ground,” he stated. “But some, it seems, value their own interests more than the well-being of their neighbors, which is quite troubling.”

Feige has been part of the Venice Beach community for roughly two decades and recently took on the role of president of the Venice Neighborhood Association after the previous president, Brian Averill, stepped down amidst internal issues.

He has reportedly filed numerous complaints against established local favorite Hinano Café, along with other nearby venues including Cabo Cantina, The Whaler, and Mercedes. These complaints primarily focus on alleged noise violations and concerns over outdoor speakers and late operating hours.

There’s uncertainty regarding which specific restaurant is implicated in the complaints, as the posters circulating online do not mention Naru Visa directly.

Efforts were made to reach out to the businesses listed on the poster, but it remains unclear who is really behind the signage.
