Omar Calls for Trump’s Removal

Representative Ilhan Omar from Minnesota expressed strong criticism of President Donald Trump on X, labeling him “an unhinged lunatic” and urging for his removal from office.

Omar stated, “This is not right. Invoke the 25th Amendment, impeach him, and remove him from office. This unfree lunatic must be removed from office.” Her comments came alongside a screenshot of Trump’s contentious Easter Sunday post on Truth Social, where he threatened attacks on Iranian power plants and bridges.

In his post, Trump declared, “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day and Bridge Day rolled into one in Iran. There’s no better day than this!!! Open the Straits, you crazy bastards, or you’ll live in hell – look! Praise be to Allah.”

Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona warned on X that such threats targeting civilian infrastructure constitute illegal orders. He stressed the importance of adhering to the laws of armed conflict and maintaining the military’s integrity, saying, “An illegal order that inflicts suffering on civilians would be a stain on our military and our country.”

Senator Jeff Merkley from Oregon criticized Trump’s Easter threats, calling them “the words of a frustrated, immoral lunatic,” pointing out that many experts view them as potential war crimes under international law. He reminded military leaders of their legal obligation to refuse unlawful orders.

Similarly, Senator Bernie Sanders characterized Trump’s remarks as those of “a dangerous and mentally unstable individual,” urging Congress to take immediate action to end the conflict.

On a different note, President Trump mentioned on Monday that the U.S. has plans to significantly damage Iranian infrastructure by a specific deadline, saying, “So by 12 o’clock, we will completely destroy it.” Despite this, he added, “We don’t want that to happen.”
