Trump Critiques Marjorie Taylor Greene After Special Election Win
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump criticized former Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene following Republican Clay Fuller’s victory in a special election for Greene’s former seat in Georgia’s 14th Congressional District.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown’s Congressional seat was taken by the remarkably talented Clay Fuller. Even with numerous candidates for that ‘Trump’ +37 seat, and the aftermath left by Greene, he succeeded by a clear margin.” He went on to congratulate Fuller, calling his win a “significant improvement” over Greene’s tenure.
Greene had secured re-election in the 2024 district election by over 28%. However, the recent April 7 contest showed Fuller winning by more than 11%. Interestingly, voter turnout appeared lower this time around compared to the presidential election cycle in 2024.
In results shared on social media, Greene expressed concerns, claiming the district was “never in danger of turning blue,” while attributing some challenges to Trump’s shift in focus from “America First” to an “America Last” approach, alongside other controversial decisions. She used the platform to express her discontent about recent political developments.
Once a strong Trump backer, Greene distanced herself from the president last year and resigned from her position early this year.
On a related note, after Trump’s contentious remarks on Easter Sunday regarding Iranian sites, Greene called him “insane.” She expressed grave concerns over his threats towards Iran and urged those around him to rethink their allegiance.
Moreover, following Trump’s alarming statements, Greene called for his removal from office via the 25th Amendment, labeling his comments as “evil and insanity.”
