Harry and Megan’s Concerns About Australian Event as Ticket Sales Drop

Netflix tells Harry and Meghan: 'We're finished'

Prince Harry and Meghan’s Australia Trip Faces Challenges

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan’s upcoming trip to Australia, scheduled for April, is reportedly starting off on shaky ground. There are concerns about slow ticket sales, which could create tensions with King Charles.

The Duke and Duchess are set to arrive in Australia on Thursday for various events. This visit marks their first since stepping back from royal duties, having last been in Sydney in October 2018. Their itinerary includes a mix of personal, business, and philanthropic activities.

Prince Harry is scheduled to deliver a keynote address on mental health at the InterEdge Summit in Melbourne, while Meghan plans to lead a three-day “face-to-face conversation” at a luxury hotel in Sydney, covering a variety of topics.

According to reports, there have been notable declines in ticket sales, particularly for Harry’s speech, where prices were slashed from $1,978 to $997 just days before the event. He will be speaking alongside former tennis star Jelena Dokic, among others.

Sky News stated that Prince Harry is set to earn $50,000 for this speech, a stark contrast to the $1 million he was reportedly paid for a JPMorgan event in February 2020.

Meghan is expected to receive $250,000 for her involvement in the “Her Best Life” retreat, priced at $3,000 per person, running from April 17 to 19 at the InterContinental Hotel in Coogee, Sydney. Initially, event organizers announced that it was “sold out,” but recent updates indicated that additional rooms were made available.

Royal commentator Richard Palmer noted that Meghan’s visit, which coincides with Queen Elizabeth II’s upcoming 100th birthday celebration, could be interpreted as a form of “revenge,” potentially heightening tensions with King Charles.

“The trip to Australia is one of the most anticipated royal events this year,” Palmer commented. “They’ll want it to be a success, especially to counter the critics.”

He suggested that if the trip does not go well, it could be seen as a personal setback for Meghan.
