The spouse of missing American boater Lynette Hooker recently fell off a police vessel while being escorted by officers in the Bahamas. He reportedly experienced “knee pain” after he was rescued, according to his attorney.
Brian Hooker, aged 59, fell from the police boat while handcuffed on Wednesday, just a day after his arrest related to his wife’s disappearance, as stated by his lawyer Terrell Butler.
Butler mentioned that Brian, who was wearing a life vest, struggled in the water until police managed to pull him back into the boat. The lawyer claimed that the vessel was rocking due to rough seas, making it challenging for Brian to hold on while handcuffed, leading to his fall.
After being rescued, he experienced “knee pain and abrasions” and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Although he hasn’t been formally charged with any offenses, Brian is currently the only suspect in connection with the disappearance of Lynette, a 55-year-old mother from Michigan. This concern was initially raised by her distraught daughter. Butler mentioned that Brian had been interviewed by police as a witness on two occasions and then again as a suspect.
In a troubling context, Lynette’s daughter pointed out that her mother and stepfather had a history of conflict, especially linked to alcohol. She recounted incidents where Brian had threatened Lynette, including a specific instance where he mentioned he might “throw her overboard.”
According to Brian, the couple was in a dinghy on Saturday night when Lynette fell into the water, apparently losing her grip on the motor key, which caused the engine to die. Subsequently, he had to row back to shore and returned early Sunday morning to report Lynette missing, which prompted someone to alert the authorities.
The search operation for Lynette then transitioned into a recovery mission.
Brian has publicly denied any involvement in his wife’s disappearance, expressing his “shock” through a statement on his Facebook page.
