Report Indicates Highest Ever Rate of Abortions at Planned Parenthood

Planned Parenthood Reports Surge in Abortions

Planned Parenthood recently released a report during Easter weekend revealing that abortion numbers reached unprecedented highs in the 2023-2024 period.

The organization’s data, which is typically a year behind, indicated that a total of 434,450 abortions were conducted. An analysis by the Pro-Life Charlotte Rozier Institute (CLI) noted an 8% increase compared to the prior year and a significant 34% rise since 2014.

CLI’s senior researcher, Tessa Cox, commented on the report, stating, “Once again, family planning organizations performed a record number of abortions, showing that abortion remains a top priority for them.”

The findings further revealed that services related to maternity care, miscarriage treatment, and adoption referrals made up only a small fraction of the organization’s overall services—1.7 percent, 0.6 percent, and 0.7 percent, respectively.

In reviewing the statistics, CLI pointed out that for every adoption referral in that timeframe, there were 143 abortions performed.

Additionally, the Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America Education Research Division assessed the family planning system’s reports, noting a mere 5% increase in other services since 2014. They also identified significant declines in various services following changes in practice guidelines—cancer screenings dropped by 43%, breast exams by 55%, and prenatal services by 56%.

Overall, CLI noted a slight uptick of 0.5% in the number of patients compared to the previous report, but a notable decline of 16% since 2014.

The report also discussed the financial state of the organization, including taxpayer funding. It was mentioned that reported taxpayer funding often lags behind actual figures and pertains to the fiscal year ending in 2024, before planned cuts to Medicaid funding in 2025.

Planned Parenthood disclosed an income of over $2.1 billion and a net worth exceeding $2.5 billion, receiving $832 million from government sources—an increase of $39.8 million from the previous report. CLI noted a 50% increase in taxpayer funding for these family planning systems since 2014.

Cox further remarked, “Over the past decade, abortions, government funding, and total income have skyrocketed, even as the number of clients served has declined and overall services have stagnated. Women deserve better alternatives, and they outnumber Planned Parenthood 15 to 1 nationally.”

In addition, Planned Parenthood received $728.2 million in private donations, marking a 6% rise from the previous report.

Interestingly, CLI noted that the organization experienced a net loss of $29.3 million, which was the first occurrence in recent years where expenditures exceeded revenues. The prior year’s report indicated a surplus of $27.4 million.
