Falcons utilize fifth-year option for standout Bijan Robinson

Bijan Robinson’s Future with the Falcons

Bijan Robinson has secured his position for now as he and the Falcons consider a longer-term agreement.

On Friday, Atlanta confirmed it has picked up Robinson’s fifth-year option. This adds some stability for the talented player while discussions about his future continue.

Robinson was the eighth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and has quickly risen to prominence, recently being named to the All-Pro team after a standout 2025 season.

The 23-year-old athlete topped the NFL last season with 2,298 scrimmage yards and placed fourth in rushing, amassing 1,478 yards and scoring seven touchdowns over 17 games.

Activating Robinson’s option seems more of a formality, as reports indicate that a contract extension is likely to be agreed upon this offseason.

Both head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Ian Cunningham have expressed great admiration for Robinson, viewing him as a key player for the franchise.

“He brings so much to our team, both on and off the field,” Stefanski remarked earlier this week during offseason practices. “His impact on our locker room and the overall culture is undeniable.”

Cunningham added at an NFL meeting that Robinson is among the top running backs in the league: “He’s not just great at his position; he’s one of the best in the game.”

Despite the praises and speculation, Robinson appeared calm when discussing his contract situation. “I’m leaving that to my agent and the front office. We’ll see how it unfolds,” he noted to reporters.
