Skylar Diggins Joins Chicago Sky

Skylar Diggins, a prominent free agent in the WNBA, is making a move to Chicago. The seven-time All-Star and Olympic gold medalist is leaving the Seattle Storm after two seasons with the team.

This marks the fourth franchise for Diggins in her WNBA career. She initially played for the Tulsa Shock, transitioned to the Dallas Wings, then moved to Phoenix, and now heads to Chicago.

BREAKING: Seven-time WNBA All-Star Skylar Diggins has signed with the Chicago Sky, the team announced. Diggins has signed a two-year contract with the team, sources told ESPN.

Skylar Diggins Rating for Chicago Sky: B+

In her time with Seattle, Diggins averaged around 15 points per game, which is pretty decent. With her new team, she has the opportunity to regain her peak performance, especially if Vandersloot can return from injury later in the season. She’s adaptable and could play an off-ball role if needed.

The Sky are not fully committing to a rebuild after trading Angel Reese, which is supported by their current cap space. However, it’s a bit risky since they won’t have a first-round pick for the next two seasons during what could be strong drafts.

That said, adding Diggins hasn’t dramatically enhanced the Sky’s chances for success just yet. As it stands, they remain close to the bottom regarding winning odds. They’re at +40,000 in the WNBA, but only time will tell if this surprising pivot proves beneficial in the end.
