Barbara Eden, 94, surprises fans with Easter picture alongside her husband

Barbara Eden recently posted a captivating photo that caught the eye of her fans, prompting many to take a second look. At 94 years old, the ‘I Dream of Jeannie’ star posted a delightful picture on her Instagram, where she and her husband, John Eicholts, donned matching bunny ears for Easter celebrations.

One admirer commented, “She’s amazing. I want to know her secret,” while another praised, “Still gorgeous and ageless!!!” A third added, “There is definitely beauty beyond age.” Eden’s enduring appeal comes from her long Hollywood career, most notably as the beloved genie in the classic 1960s sitcom. The show, which first aired on September 18, 1965, revolved around astronaut Major Tony Nelson, played by Larry Hagman, who discovers Eden’s genie, leading to a magical romance. The series ran for five seasons, wrapping up in 1970.

Nowadays, Eden enjoys a quieter life with her husband and their dog, Bentley. Reflecting on her past fame, she remarked, “I didn’t realize how popular ‘Genie’ was until a few years later, and I’m still surprised.” The actress recalled receiving fan mail from across the globe, expressing disbelief that such attention came her way during the show’s run.

She revealed that fans often ask her to mimic the genie’s signature arm-crossing gesture, which she sometimes indulges. “It’s magic,” she noted. “They always want magic. Magic is good.”

In a more personal reflection, Eden shared some behind-the-scenes history from the show. She recounted how the series initially filmed in black and white due to her pregnancy, revealing, “They didn’t want to invest money in color.” It was long thought that producers were unsure how the show’s effects would translate on screen, but Eden clarified that it was really about concealing her growing baby bump.

As she reminisced about her journey in the entertainment industry, Eden expressed her excitement when she found out she was pregnant right after ‘Genie’s Dream’ was sold, connecting her personal milestones with her professional life. Even after all these years, her charm and legacy continue to resonate with fans old and new.
