Kamala Harris Considers Presidential Run in 2028
Former Vice President Kamala Harris has indicated that she is contemplating another bid for the presidency in 2028. During a recent conference in New York, alongside Rev. Al Sharpton, she hinted that her political journey might not be over.
When asked about running in the next election, Harris remarked, “Listen, I might as well. I’m thinking about it.”
“I served just four years as President of the United States, spending countless hours in the West Wing and in the Oval Office Situation Room. I know what the job entails,” Harris stated. She emphasized her experiences across the country, especially in the South, acknowledging that the status quo hasn’t been beneficial for many people for a long time.
Harris previously ran for the Democratic nomination in 2020 but was defeated before being selected as Biden’s running mate. In the 2024 election, she took on then-President Biden, only to lose to Donald Trump. Since her defeat, she has kept a low profile and opted not to run for California governor, which has led to speculation about her future political plans.
Current polling shows Harris leading in the early stages of the 2028 Democratic primary, followed closely by other potential candidates like Gavin Newsom and Pete Buttigieg.
“I spent four years just a short distance from the office of the President of the United States. I know what it takes,” Harris reiterated. “I’m focused on how best we can serve the American people. I’ll keep you updated.”
Other Democratic figures such as Governors Gavin Newsom, Josh Shapiro, and Wes Moore have also participated in recent events, hinting at the growing competition for the nomination.
