A’ja Wilson Signs New Contract with Las Vegas Aces
A’ja Wilson is definitely sticking around in Las Vegas for the foreseeable future.
This past Wednesday, the Las Vegas Aces announced that Wilson, 29, has signed a new contract, though they haven’t shared the specifics. According to several reports, the star player and four-time WNBA MVP has secured a three-year deal to stay in Las Vegas, positioning her as the highest-paid player in the league.
It’s indicated that Wilson is set to earn $1.4 million in 2026, but that figure could exceed $4.7 million if the salary cap reaches the maximum allowed by the collective bargaining agreement in the subsequent years. That’s certainly a notable jump.
If the cap increases by 5%, Wilson should still be guaranteed to make at least $4.4 million over the three-year span. It’s interesting to think about how salary dynamics in sports can really shift things.
For context, in 2025, Wilson earned $200,000 with the Aces, which is a big difference from her new deal.
Aces president and general manager Nicky Fergus praised Wilson, saying, “A’ja is truly a unique individual who has led this franchise to where it is today. She has set numerous records with confidence and integrity, and we look forward to seeing her continued growth in an Aces uniform.” It’s nice to see her recognized for her contributions.
In 2025, Wilson ended the season as the leading scorer in the WNBA, earning accolades as the regular season MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and Finals MVP. Quite an impressive resume!
Recently, at a USA Basketball national team training camp, Wilson expressed her commitment to the Aces. “I love Las Vegas. I have no intention of leaving Las Vegas,” she stated. She added, “I want to win one more. I want to defend the championship I got in Las Vegas. I want to get better as a leader and as a player. Everything else is falling into place.” It sounds like she’s really focused on making her mark.
The Aces have claimed three of the last four WNBA championships, and Wilson has played a key role in all of those victories. It’s remarkable to think about how much she’s contributed to the team’s success.
