California High School Football Star Dies

The unfortunate cause of death for Ryder Burns, a notable football player from Southern California, has come to light. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, he died by suicide.

Burns was preparing to attend a program at Caltech but was found deceased near a park in Mission Viejo on April 6th.

The local community is grieving the loss of the 18-year-old, who had made a name for himself as a defensive end at Crean Lutheran High School in Irvine.

“We were heartbroken to announce the sudden and tragic death of Mr. Ryder Burns,” shared a letter from Campus Chaplain Timothy Unke and Principal Dr. Daniel Moyer. “Moments like this really shake us.”

The letter continued, expressing the profound questions left unanswered and the heavy sadness felt throughout the community.

The school held a memorial service on campus in honor of Burns.

Last season, Burns recorded 59 tackles and eight tackles for loss, and he was set to transfer to Cal Poly, a prestigious program known for cultivating top collegiate football players. Cal Poly expressed its condolences following his passing.

“On behalf of the entire Cal Poly football family, we are deeply saddened by Ryder’s passing,” said head coach Tim Skipper. “He was a remarkable young man with a bright future. This loss impacts us all. Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences go to his family and friends during this difficult time.”
