Stepfather departs the Bahamas following wife's disappearance, daughter doubtful

The daughter of a woman who went missing in the Bahamas has expressed her concerns that Brian Hooker might be using his mother’s health as a means to leave the island. Carly Aylesworth shared her thoughts in a conversation with Fox News Digital, noting that Hooker’s mother had been facing a serious illness for some time. Interestingly, Hooker had previously stated he would remain in the Bahamas to search for Aylesworth’s mother, Lynette, after spending five days in a Freeport jail. He was released from custody on Monday night and made it clear in media interviews on Tuesday that finding his wife was his priority.

His attorney, Terrell Butler, indicated that Hooker was committed to staying in the Bahamas as long as possible to continue the search. Yet, just a day after his release, Hooker announced he needed to return to the U.S. because of his mother’s urgent health situation. Butler mentioned that Hooker wished to be at her side during this crucial time but did not disclose the specific location in the U.S. where he was headed. It has been reported, however, that he arrived in Atlanta.

Aylesworth, who arrived in the Bahamas shortly after Hooker, has been openly critical of her stepfather’s actions following her mother’s disappearance. She remarked on his behavior, noting the inconsistency in Hooker’s willingness to search for Lynette while also leaving the island so quickly. Aylesworth mentioned that Hooker had been emotional on camera but questions linger about his character based on these actions.

After Lynette’s disappearance, Aylesworth raised concerns about Hooker’s past, suggesting there might be unresolved issues that need thorough investigation. She emphasized that if the incident was indeed an accident, it would be essential to clarify the circumstances surrounding it. During a recent interview, she shared her belief that there are elements of the case that “don’t add up,” and she alluded to Brian’s history of domestic violence and anger issues as concerning.

Following the couple’s departure from a local bar in a dinghy, Hooker described the events leading up to Lynette’s disappearance. He claimed strong winds and rough seas led to a tragic accident that caused her to fall overboard. Throughout his ordeal, he has maintained his innocence, denying any wrongdoing, and he has not faced any criminal charges. Meanwhile, the investigation continues following his release from jail.
