Rumors Surround Congressman Jimmy Gomez
WASHINGTON — Congressman Jimmy Gomez is drawing attention for more than just his time in the House. According to sources, he was seen sharing a secret kiss with a younger aide during the summer of 2023. Gomez, who is married, is part of the same social circle as former Rep. Eric Swalwell, known as the “Cool Kids Clique.”
Gomez, also a Democrat from California, has been spotted socializing with Swalwell and Senator Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), with whom he reportedly has a close friendship.
Despite Gallego’s association with Swalwell, who faces serious accusations of sexual misconduct from multiple women, insiders are suggesting that Gomez might warrant closer examination given his relatively lower public profile.
One source even stated, “There’s a growing need to address the conduct of married male members of Congress with public female interactions. The power dynamics at play create a culture that can foster abuse.”
In the incident from 2023, Gomez was alleged to have engaged in sexual activity with an aide belonging to a fellow House Democrat during a party hosted by Swalwell to kick off the August recess.
The aide, who is about 20 years younger than Gomez, was reportedly sitting on a car hood as the two were seen leaning toward each other. A witness described their location as somewhat discreet but still noticeable.
Another individual waiting for a ride home said they had to take a moment to recognize who was involved. “When we left the event, I definitely saw them kissing outside near the cars,” one observer recounted.
While some see Gomez’s actions as problematic because of his marriage, current Congressional ethics rules don’t typically prevent consensual relationships with employees who aren’t under direct supervision.
It’s important to note that the staffer in question wasn’t part of Gomez’s team.
A spokesperson for Gomez denied the accusations, asserting that the alleged encounter simply “did not happen.”
Moreover, a woman rumored to have been involved with Gomez declined to provide any official comment when approached.
Interestingly, multiple Democrats have allegedly confirmed witnessing the kiss. One insider mentioned, “While sex isn’t inherently a crime, these behaviors can lead to further issues.”
Gomez has attempted to distance himself from Swalwell, yet he co-chaired a gubernatorial campaign in California shortly after allegations against Swalwell came to light. He described those reports as “shocking” and undeniably serious.
In the meantime, Swalwell, who served an area just north of Silicon Valley, recently stepped back from both his gubernatorial aspirations and congressional role. His decline followed allegations described in the San Francisco Chronicle, where he was accused of sexual assault by an aide who claimed she was too intoxicated to consent.
That same day, other reports detailed additional women coming forward with accusations against Swalwell, which included sending explicit messages. Swalwell’s attorney has publicly denied all allegations.
While he admits to having made a certain “lapse in judgment,” Swalwell continues to assert his innocence regarding the allegations. Meanwhile, Gallego remains free of any similar accusations or legal troubles.
The fallout from Swalwell’s situation has spurred conversations about the need for a thorough reevaluation of conduct within Congress.
In related news, Texas Republican Rep. Tony Gonzalez resigned after facing accusations of infidelity, following a tragic incident that resulted in his death. Additionally, Florida Republican Rep. Cory Mills is under investigation for claims involving a political organizer who reported but later recanted allegations of abuse.
