Military Strike on Vessel Linked to Drug Trafficking

The U.S. military has reported a significant operation targeting a ship it claims was engaged in drug trafficking activities. On April 19, under the direction of U.S. Southern Command Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, a Joint Task Force executed a strike on a vessel associated with a designated terrorist group. This information was shared in a post on social media platform X.

The announcement indicated that intelligence indicated the vessel was navigating established drug trafficking routes in the Caribbean. “This vessel was actively involved in drug trafficking,” the post emphasized.

Three individuals, identified as “narco-terrorists,” were reportedly killed in this operation. Notably, it was stated that no U.S. personnel sustained injuries during the incident. The Trump administration has reportedly conducted numerous attacks on vessels suspected of drug trafficking connections.

Interestingly, on the same day, tensions with Iran escalated when the U.S. military targeted an Iranian-flagged cargo ship. The USS Spruance intercepted the M/V Touska while it was en route to Bandar Abbas, Iran, necessitating intervention. The commander of U.S. Central Command noted that multiple warnings were issued to the ship regarding a violation of the U.S. blockade.

When the crew of the Touska did not comply with the warnings over a period of six hours, the USS Spruance instructed the ship to evacuate its engine room. Consequently, several shots were fired into the engine room, which resulted in disabling the vessel’s capability to maneuver. U.S. Marines subsequently boarded the ship, which remains under U.S. control.
