Dallas Cowboys Kicker Makes NFL History with New Contract

In a remarkable turn of events, the Dallas Cowboys have reportedly signed kicker Brandon Aubrey to a four-year contract extension worth $28 million, making him the highest-paid kicker in NFL history. The deal, announced on Tuesday, breaks new ground as Aubrey becomes the first kicker to earn $7 million per season.

Aubrey, 31, has spent three seasons with the Cowboys and earned a Pro Bowl selection each year. His career stats show an impressive record of 112 successful field goals out of 127 attempts, which gives him a field goal percentage of 88.2%.

During his tenure, Aubrey not only took a significant number of kicks but also set a franchise record with a career-long field goal of 65 yards.

Interestingly, his journey to NFL stardom was anything but straightforward. He started out playing soccer in high school in the Dallas area and later attended the University of Notre Dame. Aubrey was actually chosen by Toronto FC in the 2017 MLS Draft before eventually finding his way to football.

While working as a software engineer in Arlington, he was encouraged by his wife to pursue kicking professionally. After spending two seasons in the USFL, Aubrey signed with the Cowboys just before training camp in 2023.

His entry into the NFL was nothing short of spectacular—he set a record for the most consecutive successful kicks without a miss at 35 years old, which was just the beginning of many records he would establish during his Cowboys career.

Last season, he made history again by being the first player to convert three field goals from 55 yards or more in a single game, as well as the first to convert three kicks from 60 yards or longer in the same season. In total, he holds the record for the most successful field goals of 60 yards or more in NFL history.
