Investigation Launched After Alabama Girl Found Dead
A 10-year-old girl from Alabama, known for her “bright and fun” personality, was discovered dead in a home late Friday. This tragic event has led to a murder investigation and the arrest of a boy on murder charges.
Piedmont police found Katherine Bigby’s body shortly after she was reported missing. The authorities have not disclosed the home’s location or whether it belonged to the girl. The boy involved, whose identity remains confidential due to his age, has been charged with her murder.
Authorities stated that the circumstances surrounding Bigby’s death are still unclear, and the investigation is currently ongoing. Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson expressed sorrow in a statement, noting the heartbreaking nature of the situation.
Blake Trammell, in a post on social media, reflected on the profound loss, saying, “Our family has been torn apart, and we have lost the most amazing, sweet girl. She was a light in every room she walked into. Words cannot describe the pain, guilt, and emptiness that has resulted from all of this.” Clearly, there are many unanswered questions.
Katherine was also mourned by her school, which remembered her vivacious spirit. “She had an energetic personality that made her truly special. Katherine was an avid reader and shared her happiness with others,” a school representative stated.
Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown informed AL.com that the cause of Bigby’s death is still undetermined. The authorities have been reached out to for further comments as the situation develops.
