Bear Grylls Visits “Fox & Friends” to Discuss Upcoming Season
This week, Bear Grylls, a well-known survival expert, swapped the rugged landscapes of Norway for the bright backdrop of the “Fox & Friends” studio—at least temporarily.
In a chat with host Brian Kilmeade, Grylls shared details about Season 9 of his popular show, “Running Wild,” which is set to premiere on FOX.
Unlike traditional talk shows where celebrities generally lounge on couches to promote their new projects, Grylls approaches things differently.
The upcoming season boasts a compelling lineup, including Matthew McConaughey, whom Grylls took on a glacier expedition in Norway.
Kilmeade quipped about Grylls’ relaxed demeanor, but Grylls noted that his mother often calls him the “dirtiest person in the room.”
For Grylls, the casual look is more of a uniform that connects the elegance of celebrity life with the rawness of survival experiences.
“Wild never judges,” he remarked during the show.
Reflecting on his lifelong journey, he said, “I’ve been doing this all my life. My dad was a Marine who taught me a lot, and this became my world.”
When probing why so many successful people willingly endure harsh conditions, like eating snakes or boiling water to prevent illness, Grylls suggested that they seek authenticity through these experiences.
“No, that’s not true. It’s not just sitting on a couch for a three-minute story,” Grylls countered. “Nature opens people’s minds. Many stars are looking for the unique experiences that nature offers.”
They even reviewed clips of McConaughey discovering the hard way that even supposedly clean Norwegian water should be boiled to prevent misfortune during their trip.
Grylls reflected on his experiences over nine seasons with notable figures and had some takeaways to share. He believes that “everyone is basically a normal person.” He respects those who step out of their comfort zones, remarking that this demonstrates discipline. “Successful folks take on tough challenges,” he said.
“Running Wild” premieres tonight on FOX, and episodes will be available for streaming the following day on Hulu.
