SoCal favorites are teaming up in a big way.
In-N-Out, the famed burger chain, is joining forces with KROQ, a staple in alternative rock radio, to revitalize the iconic performance space on Wilshire Boulevard. This venue will be newly named KROQ’s In-N-Out Burger Sound Space, as noted in a recent news release.
The revamped location officially opened on Tuesday with a special performance by the indie rock band Bleachers. This venue is known for its intimate atmosphere, having offered many stripped-down, personal shows over the years. Each event may even have an In-N-Out truck on-site, giving attendees complimentary food favorites during selected shows.
“For the past 15 years, KROQ’s The Sound Space has been a top spot for intimate performances by major artists in Los Angeles and Orange County,” remarked Kevin Weatherly, KROQ’s programming director, expressing excitement about the partnership as “the next best step” for the venue.
Situated in Miracle Mile, this venue has seen over 170 performances since its inception in 2011, featuring artists like Coldplay, Linkin Park, Green Day, and Foo Fighters for exclusive concerts and fan events, according to the release.
In-N-Out’s owner, Lynsi Snyder-Ellingson, mentioned that the collaboration feels right, particularly given the chain’s deep ties to Southern California culture. She also has her own musical connections with KROQ.
“Music and KROQ have always been special to me,” she shared, indicating that her in-house band, .48 Special, frequently selects tracks from the ’90s KROQ playlists.
Besides hosting concerts, the upgraded venue will continue live broadcasts, record podcasts, and hold custom events. It will also collaborate with the Slave 2 Nothing Foundation to combat human trafficking and substance abuse.
This partnership has more in store. KROQ and In-N-Out are set to organize the upcoming Sis Annual Rock 2 Freedom Benefit Concert at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles this October.
