Ex-beauty queen Carolina Flores Gómez discovered shot dead in Mexico City

Investigation Underway Following Murder of Former Beauty Queen in Mexico City

A former beauty queen was tragically found shot dead in her Mexico City apartment, and local authorities are looking into her mother-in-law’s possible involvement, according to various reports.

Carolina Flores Gómez, age 27, was discovered deceased in her residence located in the Polanco neighborhood—known for its affluence. Initial assessments suggested she had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, prompting officials to classify her death as a homicide. Paramedics called to the scene confirmed there were no signs of life.

Prosecutors are examining whether her mother-in-law, identified as Erica María, along with a man believed to be her partner or husband, might be linked to the incident.

Interestingly, a man named Alejandro has accused his mother of being involved in the murder, as reported by Azteca Guerrero. Allegedly, the mother-in-law was present when the gun was fired, which adds another layer to the investigation as authorities look into the timing of the reported incident.

Preliminary accounts from a local news outlet indicated that security guards at the building did not hear any gunshots, which raises questions about the circumstances surrounding the crime.

In a show of support, Baja California Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda has expressed solidarity with the family of the victim, urging a thorough inquiry into the case. State prosecutor María Elena Andrade Ramírez mentioned that she is coordinating with Mexico City officials to bolster the investigation.

Flores Gómez was not just a victim. She previously took part in beauty contests and was crowned Miss Teen Universe Baja California in 2017. The violence against women in Mexico has prompted advocacy groups to press for accountability and comprehensive investigations, spotlighting the ongoing issues with safety and justice.

The case remains open as authorities continue their investigation.
