ICE Arrests Illegal Alien Charged with Sexual Misconduct

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained a man from Mexico who faces charges of sexual misconduct and incest with a minor. This came to light after the victim was discovered giving birth in a hospital parking lot in South Carolina.

Yesterday, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that ICE charged 43-year-old Luis Armando Argueta Montejo, soon after his arrest by the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.

The arrest was made shortly after a mother was found in the parking lot of Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca, South Carolina, a relatively small town.

According to details from the sheriff’s office, Montejo allegedly engaged in a sexual relationship with the victim starting when she was just 11 years old, continuing until she was 14.

To maintain the victim’s privacy, the Sheriff’s Office refrained from disclosing more about her identity, including whether she was a stepchild or his own child, considering the incest claims.

Investigators are still working to determine whether Montejo is the father of the newborn.

DHS stated that Montejo indicated he entered the U.S. in 2006, during the Bush administration, and he reportedly has no prior criminal record in the country.

The investigation began with the local Department of Social Services, which then referred the matter to the Violent Crimes Unit.

The minor and her baby have been taken into protective custody, as noted by the sheriff.

DHS expressed strong condemnation of Montejo’s actions. Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Biss stated, “This troubling individual should have never come to our country to exploit children.” He is charged with serious crimes related to incest and child exploitation.

Montejo will be in federal custody pending the outcome of his case in the local judicial system.

Assistant Secretary Biss emphasized the importance of cooperation between local and national law enforcement, remarking, “Thanks to South Carolina’s collaboration, we are working to keep dangerous individuals off our streets.” He highlighted a local partnership that aids in public safety efforts.

Montejo’s bail has been set at $80,000.
