Ty Simpson Reflects on Confidence and Purpose Ahead of NFL Draft
Ty Simpson, the quarterback from Alabama, has displayed a strong sense of confidence on the field, which seems to have carried over into his preparations for the upcoming NFL Draft.
When asked if he believes he can be a starting quarterback in the NFL, Simpson was quite clear about his beliefs, expressing that he possesses the necessary talent.
Before the draft reveals his future destination, whether that’s on Thursday night in the first round or later, Simpson opened up to discuss where his self-assurance comes from.
Simpson mentioned his partnership with Toyota, noting the importance of faith in his life. “My faith is very important to me,” he explained. He emphasized how he feels football is just a small aspect of a larger purpose in life. “I believe I’m here to bring people together and spread the word, and the platform I have in football is a blessing,” he added, attributing his confidence to this belief.
He further noted that he enjoys the game, but is also aware of the attention on him. “By sharing positive messages, I think I can make a difference.”
Reflecting on his upbringing, Simpson talked about Martin, Tennessee, the town he calls home, which embodies the principles of “faith, family, and football.”
Regardless of where he ends up in the NFL, Simpson is eager to make a positive impact in the community he represents.
“I really look forward to giving back,” he said. “Martin is special to me, and my family always says ‘Martin built it.’”
Recently, Simpson demonstrated his commitment to community service by joining other NFL Draft hopefuls and members of the U.S. Women’s Flag Football Team in Pittsburgh. They participated in a flag football training camp aimed at high school girls, where Simpson offered advice and coaching tips.
“It’s exciting to see Toyota supporting girls in sports,” he remarked, acknowledging his sister’s athletic background in basketball and softball as well.
Toyota also contributed by covering registration costs for youth players in local flag football leagues as part of the initiative leading up to the draft.
In his final season at Alabama, Simpson stepped into a leading role, achieving impressive stats with over 3,500 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and just five interceptions throughout 15 games. Comparisons with fellow Alabama alum Mac Jones have emerged, but Simpson recognizes that predictions about his draft position vary widely.
As the draft approaches, Simpson admits uncertainty about where he will land. However, he remains confident in his ability to make an impact, no matter where his journey takes him.
It all ties back to his faith. “Getting drafted is an exciting experience, no matter the round,” he stated. “There are talented players across all rounds, and wherever I go, I’ll give it my all.”
