LA driver narrowly avoids death in deadly chain-reaction crash on the freeway

A driver narrowly escaped a harrowing crash on a Los Angeles freeway that resulted in one fatality. Footage reveals him colliding with another vehicle while avoiding a car that was out of control, sending it skidding along Highway 101 in Encino early Saturday.

As both drivers assessed the damage of their vehicles, an unexpected third car crashed into them, striking one driver directly while the other appeared to avoid injury.

Just then, a fourth car barreled down the highway, prompting the unharmed driver to leap over the median, which led to another collision.

The identity of the deceased has yet to be disclosed.

Emergency responders from the Los Angeles Fire Department had to use specialized tools to extract one driver from the wreckage.

The crash resulted in the closure of the northbound lanes of the freeway near White Oak Avenue.

According to California Highway Patrol Sergeant Hines, the chain reaction started with a collision that left a vehicle disabled in the left lane. The one fatality was confirmed to be a male.

Hines cautioned drivers against exiting their vehicles in such situations, advising that if involved in an accident, it’s best to pull over to the shoulder when possible. He stressed that staying inside the vehicle is usually the safest option, highlighting the importance of wearing seat belts.
