Kimmel’s Mockery of Trump at Correspondents’ Dinner

In a light-hearted parody of the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel took aim at President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump. He humorously referred to Melania as a “pregnant widow,” blending sarcasm with commentary about their marriage just days before the actual event faced interruptions due to a shooting.

Kimmel’s parody included a playful nod to the couple’s relationship. “Look at Melania, she’s so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have the glow of a pregnant widow,” he jokingly remarked during the skit.

The Correspondents’ Dinner, an annual celebration organized by the White House Correspondents’ Association, honors journalism and provides scholarships. This year’s gathering, held in Washington, attracted significant attention, especially since it marked Trump’s first appearance as president. However, the evening was ultimately marred by a violent incident.

During his performance, Kimmel also drew attention to supposed emotional distance between the Trumps. “Oh, by the way, Melania, this is Donald. Donald, this is Melania,” he quipped, adding a comedic twist to their public persona.

Kimmel, alluding to the first lady’s upcoming birthday, suggested a rather solemn way she might celebrate. “She’s going to celebrate like she always does at home, looking out the window and whispering, ‘What have I done?'” was one of his humorous comments.

Tragically, shortly after the dinner, chaos erupted as a man named Cole Allen, armed with multiple weapons, allegedly opened fire at a Secret Service checkpoint in the Washington Hilton. Reports indicated that an officer was injured but shielded by his bulletproof vest and was later hospitalized. Meanwhile, Trump, Melania, and other officials were quickly evacuated from the scene.

As authorities worked to address the incident, the initial light-heartedness of Kimmel’s humor stood in stark contrast to the violent disruption that followed just moments later.
