Trevor Bauer’s Impressive Return to Baseball
Trevor Bauer recently wanted to make a statement on social media in response to his critics.
The former major league pitcher, who now resides in suburban Long Island, delivered a remarkable seven-inning no-hitter against the Long Island Ducks on Sunday. This was his second outing with the independent team in the Atlantic League.
After the 13-0 victory over the Lancaster Stormers, Bauer took to social media to share his thoughts.
One sentiment expressed on the popular social media platform was, “Trevor Bauer is really bad. He’s so washed up,” from @BauerOutage.
In this recent game, Bauer struck out seven hitters using 84 pitches, allowing just one walk. His performance made him the third pitcher in the Ducks’ history to throw a no-hitter.
Interestingly, the last two players to achieve this feat were Rod Henderson, who did so on May 25, 2001, and Robert Stock on July 18, 2023.
The 35-year-old, a former Cy Young Award winner, made his first Opening Day start in the U.S. in almost five years last week. He’s striving for a return to major league baseball after enduring a 194-game suspension in 2022 linked to sexual assault allegations, which he vehemently denies. Notably, no criminal charges were ever filed against him.
Though he has played in Mexico and Japan since then, no MLB team has yet taken a chance on him for a comeback in the states.
In a YouTube vlog, Bauer discussed the warm reception he received from fans during his initial start and mentioned how that experience unfolded without any major negative incidents.
“I didn’t hear any negative comments. There were no protests,” he remarked in a video blog titled “Joining a New Team in New York.” He seemed somewhat surprised by the lack of backlash, suggesting that his initial fears had been exaggerated. “Imagine if I could pitch in America and there would be no mass protests or cancellations,” he mused.
