King Charles III and Queen Camilla Visit the U.S.

On Monday afternoon, King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in the United States, invited personally by President Donald Trump. They were greeted on the tarmac by an honor guard.

A welcome ceremony took place at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, where members of the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard assembled to greet the royal couple for their four-day state visit.

This invitation came after their visit to Windsor Castle last year and aligns with Britain’s contribution to the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence celebrations.

As the Royal Air Force jets landed, the red carpet was rolled out for the King and Queen. The aircraft, adorned with the royal cipher of Charles III, raised both the Royal Flag and the American Stars and Stripes from a specially designed folding flag pole.

Upon arrival, the royal couple met several key officials, including British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and the new Ambassador to Washington, Christian Turner. The U.S. Air Force ceremonial band played the national anthems of both nations, which garnered attention.

The Royals then made their way into Washington in a 29-vehicle convoy that included a fire engine and an ambulance. They are set to host President Trump for afternoon tea and will hold a grand garden party for 650 guests at the historic British Embassy.

In the upcoming days, the Trump family plans to host a state dinner for the royal couple at the White House, concluding their visit. The evening is expected to feature speeches by both President Trump and King Charles, reminiscent of their meeting at Windsor Castle last year. Additionally, King Charles has been invited to address a joint session of Parliament, similar to what his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, did in 1991.

King Charles is also set to travel to New York on Wednesday for a commemoration event related to September 11 and will meet Mayor Zoran Mamdani.

This visit comes shortly after an apparent assassination attempt on President Trump and key members of his executive team. Following the incident, security officials from both countries convened to discuss the situation, ultimately ensuring the visit would proceed. President Trump commended King Charles for his decision not to cancel, labeling it as “brave.”
