Lawrence Taylor is currently hospitalized due to “stomach-related issues.” Fortunately, his condition isn’t life-threatening, but the timeline for his release remains uncertain, as stated by his attorney to The California Post on Monday.
Mark Eiglash, his attorney based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, mentioned that Taylor was admitted to a medical facility on April 20 and has been receiving care since then.
“He is still under medical observation and is showing some signs of improvement,” Eiglash noted regarding Taylor’s situation.
Despite this, Eiglash pointed out that no discharge date has been decided yet.
“Lawrence wants to express his sincere gratitude to everyone who has kept him in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging time,” he added.
Last week, Taylor experienced a medical emergency that led to his hospitalization in New Jersey, according to reports.
Throughout his football career, the legendary New York Giants pass rusher has faced various health challenges, though he seemed to be in good spirits during a visit with Bill Belichick at the University of North Carolina on April 12.
He was seen smiling as he took photos with former coaches and young athletes.
Before this incident, Taylor also attended the James Hardy Pro Football Hall of Fame Invitational in March.
At the age of 67, Taylor played for the Giants from 1981 to 1993, securing two Super Bowl wins. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999.
