FBI Raids in Minneapolis Target Alleged Fraud Schemes

On Tuesday, federal authorities executed searches at over 20 locations in Minneapolis, focusing on suspected fraud linked to Somali-owned businesses in the state governed by Democrats.

According to reports, childcare centers that are state-registered were also among the targets. Allegations suggest these facilities were charging for services they weren’t actually providing.

Footage showed a police officer entering one of these facilities, drawing considerable attention.

Two of the locations hit included Quality Learning Center and Baby Halimo Child Care. Interestingly, Quality Learning Center garnered negative attention during an investigative report by citizen journalist Nick Shirley, who highlighted potential fraud cases associated with the facility.

Shirley previously claimed that during a visit to Minneapolis in December, his investigation unveiled more than $110 million in suspected fraudulent activity in just one day. In a video, he captured scenes of childcare facilities with many empty or closed units, with some being occupied by individuals who were less than willing to engage with him.

Following the circulation of Shirley’s video, FBI Director Kash Patel expressed that the fraud scheme in Minnesota had become a significant priority for the bureau.

A spokesperson from the U.S. Department of Justice confirmed that the FBI, along with various federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, is involved in authorized operations pertaining to this ongoing investigation.

Simultaneously, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security acknowledged that criminal warrants related to widespread fraud at the expense of American taxpayers were being executed in Minneapolis.

Investigative journalist AJ Lagoe shared a photo on social media, showcasing a police officer outside a center identified as the “Somali Senior Center & Adult Day Services.”

In a response to the raids, House Minority Leader Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) expressed appreciation for the law enforcement efforts addressing these fraud allegations. He noted that the administration is serious about countering misconduct and ensuring accountability for those who exploit public resources.
