Texas Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault on Fifth-Grade Student
A Texas elementary school teacher is facing serious allegations of sexual assault involving a fifth-grade student, whom he allegedly called one of his “favorites.” Authorities are now urging anyone else who may have been affected to step forward.
Cecilia Mueller, 46, a long-time employee with the Northside Independent School District, was taken into custody recently after a former student—now 20 years old—reported disturbing sexual incidents that occurred while in her fifth-grade class during the 2016-2017 school year.
The victim recounted to police that Mueller, then 36, engaged in inappropriate acts within a classroom closet, including kissing. The report highlighted a troubling account of how the teacher dismissed the victim’s feelings, claiming that her young child present at the time wouldn’t remember what happened.
According to the victim, the unwanted attention started after she became one of Mueller’s preferred students, leading to sitting arrangements that put her close to other similarly labeled peers. Apparently, Mueller often used crude language with these favored students, prying into their personal lives and even inquiring about their crushes.
Police learned that these identified students would frequently gather during lunch, where Mueller allegedly played explicit music and, on at least one occasion, pornographic videos. Reports indicate that the teacher often initiated games of “truth or dare,” coercing the children—who were around ten years old—into kissing him, all while warning them to keep quiet about the inappropriate activities and threatening that they might get into trouble if they told their parents.
The alleged abuse reportedly stopped after the student finished fifth grade. Shockingly, Mueller would tell the boy he would never be able to engage in sexual activity because it would “ruin” him.
Mueller is now on administrative leave, and the school district is cooperating fully with ongoing investigations. She has been charged with continuous sexual assault of a child. Authorities are concerned that there could be more victims and are asking anyone with additional information to reach out to the Special Victims Unit.
