New ATF Director Signs Significant Rule Changes
Robert Secada, the newly sworn-in director of the ATF, initiated a noteworthy rulemaking package during a ceremony on Wednesday. This package effectively repeals and modifies a series of gun regulations that were put in place during the administration of former President Joe Biden.
Earlier that day, Breitbart News communicated with the Justice Department, which indicated plans to revoke some of the existing regulations established by Biden’s administration, including revisions to Form 4473.
During the afternoon event, Mr. Blanche offered his congratulations to Secada for his new position and emphasized the significance of beginning his tenure by addressing Biden-era regulations.
Blanche remarked that the administration is “abolishing regulations that exceed what the law allows” and aims to reduce “bureaucratic hurdles.” He criticized the previous rules, suggesting they were implemented by individuals lacking understanding of gun owners and the nuances of operating gun stores.
“Under the Trump administration, the Second Amendment will never be regarded as a lesser right,” he asserted.
Secada took the stage, declaring, “This is a great day for legal gun owners.”
He mentioned that 34 proposals have been created to address ineffective rules and to improve existing ones. One of the major changes he suggested includes revoking the stabilizer brace rule from the Biden administration and modifying how “engaged in a business” is defined, keeping the Congressional definition intact. The rule package also aims to update ATF forms, including Form 4473.
Additionally, a proposal aims to exclude “bump stock” from the classification of “machine gun.”
Secada indicated that the proposed final rule will soon be available in the Federal Register, where more details will follow.
