Incident Involving D4vd and Celeste Rivas
Just hours after the tragic death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas, singer D4vd, whose real name is David Burke, discussed his upcoming album in an interview. This conversation took place on April 24, 2025, a day after he allegedly murdered Rivas at their home in Hollywood Hills, as per legal documents acquired by the California Post.
The interview aired on April 28, 2025, clearly aligning with the timeline suggested in the legal documents. Throughout the discussion, Burke appeared unusually composed, even smiling and joking as he reflected on creating his latest album, “Wizard.”
During the interview, Burke shared insights about his creative process, mentioning how his experiences—both the joys of friendships and the pains of loss—shaped his music. “It all formed in this kind of domino effect that led to this project,” he explained.
He went on to elaborate on his songwriting, stating that he often channels heartbreak and relationship struggles into his work. “I always expect it to happen and write about it as soon as it happens,” he noted.
The host probed further, asking if Burke truly anticipates such tragic outcomes to fuel his art. Burke responded thoughtfully, expressing uncertainty. “I hope not… it feels that way, so I really hope I’m not doing it unconsciously,” he admitted.
Meanwhile, investigators have alleged that after the incident with Rivas, Burke ordered various tools and supplies, including a shovel, chainsaws, and body bags. These items were delivered to his home, with the LAPD later discovering fragments from an inflatable pool on Rivas’ dismembered remains.
Detectives revealed that Burke met Rivas when she was just 11, and they reportedly began their sexual relationship when she turned 11 and he was 18. The night before the alleged murder, the two had a heated text conversation where Rivas expressed her anger over Burke dating someone else, even threatening to expose their relationship and jeopardize his career.
Burke is now facing serious charges, including first-degree murder with multiple special circumstances, such as ambush and the fact that Rivas was a witness in a related investigation. Furthermore, he is charged with lewd behavior involving a minor and the mutilation of human remains. Authorities suggested that Burke feared the allegations about his relationship with Rivas could damage his music career.
