Former Chick-fil-A Employee Arrested for Fraudulent Refunding
A former employee of Chick-fil-A in Texas was recently arrested on charges that he stole over $80,000 through a fraudulent refund scheme, according to police reports.
Keishun Jones, who lost his job at the Grapevine location last year, is accused of returning to the restaurant multiple times to enter fake food orders into the cash register. He then allegedly credited the funds back to his personal credit card, as outlined by the Grapevine Police Department.
Investigators believe Jones made around 800 fake orders for macaroni and cheese before refunding those payments. He was taken into custody on April 17.
Fraudulent refund schemes like this one are unfortunately not rare in the restaurant world. Employees who have access to registers can easily manipulate point-of-sale systems, leading to significant losses for businesses.
The police began their investigation in November 2025 after restaurant owners raised concerns about numerous suspicious refunds. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage that reportedly showed Jones processing transactions behind the counter, despite no longer being employed there. It’s unclear how he managed to access the register after his termination.
A warrant for Jones’ arrest was issued on April 6. He was captured on April 17 with help from the Texas Attorney General’s Fugitive Task Force and Fort Worth police.
He now faces multiple charges, including theft of property, money laundering, and evading arrest.
Money laundering charges arise when proceeds from illegal actions are processed through financial transactions. Meanwhile, the evading arrest charge implies that authorities believe he was trying to avoid being caught.
If found guilty, Jones could serve up to a decade in state prison under Texas law. So far, there hasn’t been any response from representatives of the Grapevine Police Department or Chick-fil-A regarding the situation.
