Missing Truck Driver Found Dead in Georgia
The FBI has confirmed that Alejandro Jacomino González, a truck driver who went missing during what’s suspected to be a hijacking, has been found dead in a coastal region of Georgia. This was announced on Wednesday.
The 41-year-old was last seen in the early hours of April 17 at a rest stop along Interstate 95, situated south of Brevard County, Florida.
Things took a concerning turn later that same day when authorities located his truck approximately 300 miles away in Port Wentworth, Georgia.
“Since the discovery of the truck, three vehicles have been recovered in Florida, while some others remain unaccounted for,” officials noted.
According to federal reports, Gonzalez had been transporting multiple vehicles from the Port of Brunswick and was en route to Miami for deliveries. GPS tracking indicated that his truck had initially moved south before abruptly reversing direction and going north.
After he could no longer be contacted, the FBI sought public assistance, asking for any surveillance footage, photographs, or witness accounts from individuals who may have been at or near the Grant Valkaria rest area between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. on April 17.
Gonzalez, who was originally from Cuba, is described as having a full sleeve tattoo on his left arm, another tattoo on his lower right arm, and one that reads “Elysia” on his right forearm.
Gonzalez’s cousin, Juan Carlos Forcade, mentioned that the FBI informed González’s wife about the grim discovery of her husband’s body. The agency later confirmed that the body found along the coast had indeed been identified as González, although the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
Both the Atlanta and Tampa FBI offices are looking into the case, urging anyone with information to reach out to the FBI tip line at 1-800-225-5324 (1-800-CALL-FBI). Tips can also be submitted online.
