Jasmine Crockett Upset about Being Disrespected as One of the 'Most Powerful People in the Country'

Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) expresses frustration over what she perceives as disrespect towards her, highlighting her self-identified role as one of the “most powerful people in this country” as a congresswoman.

“I’m a black American woman,” Crockett asserted during a talk show.

“Some people seem to forget that I’m a congressperson. But first and foremost, I’m a black woman,” she said, voicing her concerns about the “contempt” she feels. Crockett questioned how anyone could think it was acceptable to “disrespect” her, considering her influential position among the hundreds in Congress.

“You know the disrespect we face as Black women. I’m one of the 535 most powerful people in this country,” she noted. “And somehow, you believe we stand on the same level, yet you think it’s okay to disregard me.”

The Democrat firmly stated, “That’s not going to happen.”

Crockett, who previously campaigned for a U.S. Senate seat in Texas without success, has frequently made headlines for her controversial remarks, often framing herself as a target of criticism, particularly due to her race. Yet, it’s noteworthy that she has also made a range of combative statements against her “enemies,” labeling them as “wannabe Hitlers” and followers of what she calls a “cult.”

Her remarks have often sparked political tension. For instance, last year, she raised eyebrows when she suggested uncertainty about future elections.

Crockett has also exhibited abrasive behavior, like mocking paralyzed Governor Greg Abbott during a speech at the 2025 Human Rights Campaign dinner.

“You know Governor Hot Wheels is here,” she commented. “But let’s be honest, he’s just a messed-up human being, honey.”

Curiously, her comments seemed detached from reality as she claimed to consider Abbott’s use of transport for illegal immigrants rather than his condition.

In one instance, she faced accusations of forcibly grabbing a journalist’s phone out of frustration over being questioned about her role in a Tesla deal.

Throughout, she has remained aligned with her party, even making disparaging claims about Christian lawmakers supposedly wanting to deny food stamps to those in need. Regarding the rising cost of food and housing, Crockett attributes this to the previous administration’s immigration policies, including deportations, which she argues inflate prices for the average American.

“If you ask yourself, ‘Are food prices manageable? Are you okay with escalating housing costs?’ it becomes clear how important immigrants are to our economy,” she mentioned during an appearance on CBS News last year.

Texas Democrats have also defended illegal immigration by suggesting that the labor market needs undocumented immigrants, claiming that black Americans are no longer inclined to engage in such work.

In a striking contradiction, Crockett has called former President Trump the “Grim Reaper” following attempts on his life, asserting that he and his administration are delivering a “death sentence” with their policy decisions.
