Which 2026 NFL draft selection impressed you the most?

Which 2026 NFL draft selection impressed you the most?

The draft has wrapped up, and the NFL landscape is now shifting into a quieter phase. But there’s still plenty to discuss.

Which draft picks have hinted at their futures with their new teams?

A major offseason storyline is the Philadelphia Eagles’ trade involving AJ Brown. Some outlets are indicating it’s almost a foregone conclusion, discussing it extensively.

While this might seem certain, there’s still no definitive proof that it will become a reality. However, things did change when the Eagles snagged USC wide receiver Makai Lemon in the first round.

This could signal the beginning of a fresh era for the Eagles’ offense. It’s curious to think that perhaps no team has signaled their future intentions more clearly than the Eagles. The Rams have Ty Simpson, but they’re the only other team in that conversation.

I have to admit, I was surprised when the Rams chose Ty Simpson with their first-round pick. Sure, he might be the second-best quarterback in this draft, but this overall quarterback class isn’t very strong. If 2026 was supposed to be Matthew Stafford’s final season, they seemed to be going all in for one last chance. Instead, they prioritized drafting his potential successor and seemed to pick players who probably won’t make much of an impact in the upcoming season.

Typically, the Rams are quite strategic about their draft choices each year, but this time feels unusually off.

Who took your favorite player?

The Chargers were on the hunt for an offensive guard, hoping to snag a standout in the early rounds. Instead, my preferred guard, Chase Visontis from Texas A&M, got picked by the Cardinals just before the Chargers had their chance.

They opted to trade back and selected Florida center Jake Slaughter, who hasn’t played guard in college. I’m not sure how that addresses LA’s pressing need, but losing Visontis so early was quite painful, especially considering he believed he could have been picked at No. 55.

The Dallas Cowboys drafting Caleb Downs? I’m still thrilled about it.

Getting Caleb Downs feels like a huge win for the Cowboys. He’s a standout defensive prospect, fitting the team like a glove, and has the potential to be a key figure, much like Dak Prescott. That’s some serious company.

Moreover, Downs is a defensive back, and with the addition of Christian Parker, who has a knack for innovative defense, this setup feels almost magical, like Harry Potter choosing a wand that matches the wizard’s essence.

It’s a captivating match, to say the least.

Has the team turned a new leaf?

It’s certainly odd not to see a franchise quarterback emerge in this draft. The Las Vegas Raiders seem to be the exception to that trend.

This shift seems rejuvenating for the Raiders, something they really needed. I’m optimistic—they’re not completely at rock bottom anymore, even if it takes time to climb up.

Another team that might overachieve thanks to their 2026 draft is the New York Jets. They secured four starters from their top four picks (three in the first round), covering crucial positions on both sides of the ball.

No matter if Geno Smith stumbles again, the Jets took steps to surround him with as much talent as they could muster.

Which team would you want to manage in Madden?

My cousin and I run a shared Madden franchise, each managing a different team. We have rules about how we engage with each other, which is key for this conversation.

Usually, we follow the NFL Draft closely, starting fresh with rosters featuring new rookies crafted by dedicated fans online. It’s always a blast to debate which team would be the best choice to take over after the draft for Madden.

The choice often hinges on personal play styles. If you’re after a solid team that’s just missing a few pieces, the Eagles could be appealing. Or maybe you fancy the Rams as they continue the transition away from Stafford. You could even say the Texans have had a fair number of players chosen this draft.

Personally, I’m drawn to taking over the Titans. They have an exciting group of young talents, giving me room to build the team I envision. Colonel Tate could be thrilling and a popular choice in dynasty leagues; also, the Saints with Jordyn Tyson look appealing.

In my view, it’s exciting to have young, dynamic players in key roles that can significantly impact your Madden experience. If your quarterback isn’t quite up to par, having elite weapons—at least in specific attributes like speed—can compensate by allowing you to create effective strategies and plays.

If I were to dive into a new Madden franchise, I’d likely pick the New York Jets. They’ve just drafted exceptionally athletic tight end Kenyon Saddiq and pass rusher David Bailey—two ideal players to set the stage for greatness. Saddiq offers a speedy option at a position where getting open is crucial, while Bailey is a formidable pass rusher who can thrive with linebacker Demario Davis supporting him.

With this strong foundation, the team is poised to improve over the years.
