Michael Porter Jr. on the Move After Address Leak
Michael Porter Jr. is on the lookout for a new place to stay. While he won’t be leaving the Nets, he had to move out of his residence after an influencer revealed his address online.
Porter’s return to the podcast scene took an unexpected turn when social media influencer Serena Powell accessed her home without permission while she was out, sharing his address with her 3 million Instagram followers.
The Nets acquired Porter last offseason. During a livestream on Instagram with N3on and Steiny, Powell, an Instagram model connected to various athletes, exploded in anger upon finding out she wouldn’t be on the show.
When Porter arrived home, police were already on the scene, with Powell sitting in his Rolls Royce discussing things with officers. In an outrage, she pointed at Porter and N3on, yelling for them to “lock him up” and exclaiming her frustration.
No arrests were made.
During the livestream, Porter expressed his concerns, saying, “She leaked my friend. She put my address on Instagram, which puts us in a tough spot. I’ve never seen anyone act that way.”
“She’s upset because we offered her a way out, but she wanted to stay involved. Isn’t that wild?” he continued, adding, “Now we have to pack up and figure things out elsewhere.”
In the same livestream, he discussed various topics including the Nuggets, Nets, and NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. Porter, a Missouri native, shared his initial feelings about being traded, stating, “I felt bad because I knew Brooklyn wasn’t doing well and, honestly, I hated New York. It’s the most claustrophobic place I’ve ever been. I’m from Missouri, where you have room to breathe, and New York was the opposite. I really didn’t want to be traded there.”
However, he gradually grew comfortable, noting, “Once I settled in, it felt brighter. New York is definitely hectic!”
Porter praised the Nets’ environment, expressing optimism about the team’s future, particularly with their young roster and salary cap flexibility. He also mentioned that he believes the Nuggets could have snagged the NBA title if they hadn’t traded him, commenting, “They should not have traded me. Honestly, I’m living my best life in Brooklyn. This season didn’t pan out, but there’s a bright future ahead.” He added, with a hint of humor, that he thought he wasn’t included in the All-Star Game because of an incident from his rookie year, where he accidentally leaked his own phone number.
