Dr. Jordan Peterson’s Health Struggles

Dr. Jordan Peterson, the well-known psychologist, is currently experiencing “neurological damage” attributed to past use of psychiatric medications. He has indicated no intention of re-entering public life anytime soon. According to his wife, Tammy Peterson, he is currently spending time with his family and has not made comments about returning to work. She noted, “It feels like I’m in a different realm of pain,” adding that mornings are particularly difficult for him, although he sometimes finds a bit of relief later in the day.

Tammy explained that the lasting effects from the psychotropic drugs he took over six years ago necessitate patience and careful support to recover. She elaborated on his condition, mentioning that he suffers from “tardive akathisia,” a movement disorder associated with withdrawal from dopamine antagonists, which can lead to an overwhelming urge to move.

She has also suggested that many individuals have detailed their experiences with psychotropic medications, insisting that the healthcare industry must acknowledge these accounts and work to protect people from such adverse effects. Additionally, while he was recovering from pneumonia in Switzerland, Peterson contracted sepsis.

In a recent social media post, Peterson’s daughter, Mikhaila, shared that her father is “taking a break from all work” due to ongoing struggles with akathisia linked to the neurological harm inflicted by these medications.

Peterson has generally maintained a low profile over the past year, despite his influential standing as a public figure. His wife remarked that he is forgoing opportunities to engage with pressing social issues. He has yet to publicly respond to requests for comment regarding his current health status.
