Woman shatters window of Philadelphia house and attempts to get inside. Armed resident tells her to stop, but she ignores the warning.

On Sunday afternoon, a woman attempted to break into a residence in Philadelphia by smashing a window, according to police reports.

The homeowner, armed at the time, warned her to cease her actions. However, police indicated that she persisted in her attempts to enter the home.

According to a neighbor, “I think he had to do what he had to do to protect his family. There was a stranger there. He’s a good neighbor. He’s very good.”

Ultimately, the homeowner shot the intruder multiple times, resulting in her death, as noted by police who are viewing the incident as a potential case of self-defense.

The homeowner stayed at the scene and tried to help the injured woman before emergency services arrived. He is also cooperating with the ongoing investigation, per police statements.

Lieutenant DF Pace from the Philadelphia Police Department mentioned, “At some point, the occupants of the home made it clear that they were inside, and this individual…refused to stop, based on the information we have.” He added that it appears the homeowner was defending himself within his own space. The shooter was licensed to carry the firearm and has not faced any arrest.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire on the 2300 block of North Cleveland Street at approximately 1:13 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered an adult woman inside the home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

She was transported to the hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after, at 1:49 p.m. Interestingly, the deceased is currently identified as Jane Doe, and the reasons for her attempted break-in remain unclear.

A neighbor named Shawnee described the homeowner as a kind family man, stating, “He probably had to do what he had to do to protect his family. There was a stranger there. He’s a good neighbor, a very good person.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the situation to reach out to the Philadelphia Police Department, using the number 215-686-TIPS (8477) or through anonymous online tips.
