Jennifer Welch Critiques Celebrities at 2026 Met Gala

On Tuesday, former Bravo star Jennifer Welch expressed her disapproval of celebrities who participated in the 2026 Met Gala, mainly because billionaire Jeff Bezos was a sponsor of the high-profile event.

Welch, who co-hosts the podcast “I’ve Had It,” gained fame as an interior designer on the short-lived reality series “Sweet Home Oklahoma” from 2017 to 2018. In 2022, she began her podcast with co-host Angie “Pumps” Sullivan, initially focusing on lighthearted complaints. However, Welch has become quite prominent in her liberal views, frequently drawing attention with her sharp critiques of conservatives and the Trump administration.

The Met Gala is an exclusive event held annually at the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It attracts major celebrities to raise funds for the institute, and the 2026 edition saw Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, reportedly contributing around $10 million as honorary co-chairs.

Welch did not hold back, stating on her podcast, “Jeff Bezos writing a check for $10 million to try to launder his… wife into the Cool Kids Club is an outrageous turn of events and an embarrassment.” She took aim at Bezos for allegedly being a “union buster” and suggested his priorities lie more with the elite than with ordinary customers.

“If you’re going to be a fascist, Jeff Bezos, put your money where your mouth is,” she continued, mocking him for not showing up to the event’s red carpet. “What a coward,” her co-host Sullivan chimed in, echoing the sentiment.

Welch reiterated her criticisms, indicating that Bezos’ wife wants “it both ways.” She said Sanchez is trying to align herself with influential figures while knowing that true cultural impact comes from the LGBTQ+ community, women, and diversity.

In her fervor, Welch also mentioned that Bezos funds groups she views as “nefarious,” saying they collude for profit. She added that Sanchez’s dress at the gala resembled a “bit of a fascist” look, pointing out the contradictory nature of their self-identities.

She further admonished Bezos, referencing his actions regarding the Met Gala and his controversial reporting practices at The Washington Post.

Welch concluded by saying that those attending the Met Gala symbolize a commitment to wealth and power, declaring, “We hear you, we see you, and we will definitely stand with you for the fascists.” She expressed disdain for all participants who align with such values.

Celebrities at this year’s Met Gala included notable figures like Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, and Beyoncé, among others.

A spokesperson for Bezos did not respond to requests for comments at the time of this report.
